300As exhibited in a recent show at Napa Valley, Calif, Volkswagen has introduced its brand new range of Generation 3 cars, which come with direct injection engine and this replaces the 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine in the Jetta and Passat model. Volkswagen Canada has also launched its 2014 lineup and offered test drives for each of the models as well. There were, basically, 11 different models from the group of 2014 Volkswagen lineup which included three European models. It is needless to mention that all these new models are characterized by new set of features which made them favorite for many. Here are some of them are mentioned with the specific set of features –

CC R-Line

This is known to be the sexiest and best ever looking model in the Volkswagen lineup, so far. The low sleek appearance and sweeping roofline make this model worth of its price and the best choice among all the four-door coupes available in North America. The R-Line, Sport and Executive models are all front-wheel drive that come up with the 200-hp version of the 2.0-lite turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The Executive, which is known to be the top model among all of them, has a 4Motion® all-wheel drive and 280-hp V-6 engine. Even though the flagship of the Volkswagen sedans was given a new design in 2013, it gets a lot of new features in the coming year and some of the features are available VW car-net connectivity and standard navigation. One of the greatest features is that it is designed with the hands-free easy open trunk which can be activated by a single foot movement. The pricing for all these models start from $32,660 and this includes the destination charge for the model of for the Executive with a six-speed automatic, 4Motion and the V-6 engine and for Sport with six-speed manual transmission up to $43,310. The V-6 is rated at 17/25-mpg. The EPA fuel economy for these models is 32 mpg highway and 21 mpg city with the manual transmission.

Paasat SEL Premium

This American built model of Passat has undoubtedly been one of the most recent success stories of Volkswagen. Quite surprisingly, the most recent model, named Passat TDI diesel set a new Guinness World Record for the “lowest fuel consumption — 48 U.S. states for a non-hybrid car” category. The Passat recorded 77.99 mpg, which is more than 10 mpg and is better than the previous mark of 67.9 mpg. This achievement has also beaten the hybrid vehicle record of 64.6 mpg by more than 13 mpg. This model of Passat is also available with a 3.6-liter, 280-hp, V-6 engine or the fuel sipping TDI 140-hp 2.0-liter diesel. And this is rated at 35 mpg highway and 24 mpg city. In fact, the Passat TDI model is the only diesel-powered car available in the mid size category. For the coming year the Passat base engine is eventually being switched over from the in-line five-cylinder to the new turbocharged 1.8-liter four-cylinder during the model year. Like the CC R-Line model, it also gets the VW Car-Net connectivity system as well as new electric assist steering system. To the delight of the riders, the new engine increases the fuel economy to 35 mpg highway and 24 mpg city.
